Osaka City University (OCU) will again host a group of trainees from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) this year for 2 months from 11 June 2012 until 13 August 2012. This is the 2nd edition of the 4th (2011-2013) JICA trainee program commissioned by the JICA Osaka International Center. Continuing from last year, the program will provide group training in solar power generation and its utilization. The trainees come from different countries that introduced or will introduce independent power supply systems, specifically solar home systems. This year's 9 participants are from Tajikistan, Tonga, Fiji, Bhutan, Burundi, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Malawi.

The group will receive lectures from 11 professors from the OCU Graduate School of Engineering, in a wide range of fields (among others electronics, machinery, physics, chemistry and architecture). In addition, state-of-the-art companies specialized in electricity storage equipment, regeneration and re-use of storage batteries, as well as companies offering total solutions, including development and manufacturing of solar cells and design of solar power generation systems are also involved in the program.

The entire staff of teachers and graduate students at OCU hopes that through this program the trainees will be able to obtain a profound knowledge of solar energy generation, in particular solar home systems, and that they can put this knowledge to use in their home countries.
