On Saturday, May 15, 2021, President Tetsuo Arakawa was awarded the 2021 Sakita Award.?For the development of society, the Sakita Award was established in 2007 with a donation from the late Takao Sakita, Honorary President of the Japanese Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society.

　The award is an honorary prize presented to individuals who have made outstanding achievements in gastroenterological endoscopy and contributed to the development of the Japanese Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society.

President Arakawa stated:
　“I am honored to receive the prestigious Sakita Award. When I was young, Dr. Sakita once gave me words of encouragement, boosting my confidence as a researcher. I am deeply moved to receive the award established by Dr. Sakita himself. Thank you very much.”
